The annual FLSA First Year Dinner is on once again, to be held next Tuesday March 9.
Only available to first year law, it is a fantastic opportunity for you to meet other students, many of whom you will be spending the better part of the next three to five years of your life with. Regardless of whether you’re fresh out of school, a postgraduate on your second degree or an older student coming back to study, don’t be fooled: this is not a degree in which you can easily get by without support of others. The more people you meet and associate with the easier your time at law school becomes, especially when it comes to comparing ideas and theories for your assignments and exams. Trust us, we’ve been there. This is a chance for you to meet them outside the hustle of law school and take it easy for the night.
Last year this event sold out so get in quick to secure your place. Tickets are $30 for premium members and $35 for non member and are available for sale in the law courtyard between 11-2 every day. Membership (valid for your entire degree) is available for $25 and will save you roughly $5 on every FLSA event –well worth the purchase. You can also buy tickets for a flat rate of $35 online if you prefer – simply visit at www.flsa.org.au/firstyeardinner to secure your place through paypal. Note there is NO ticket system; we’ve got the entire beer garden booked at the Duke of York and check off names at the door. Partners and friends are welcome if it makes you more comfortable.
Finally in regards to the pub crawl – a few people have asked if it’s exclusive to first years. Short answer: no. This is open to the ENTIRE law school and is ALWAYS a hit, so if wandering the streets of Adelaide with 150-200 other law students on the election eve takes your fancy, this is THE event of the term to go to.
