The Aurora Native Title Internship Program applications open for 2010 soon! There are two types of internships offered - Legal internships and Anthropology/Social Science internships.

Read on for information for the Legal Internships

Legal Internships:

The Program introduces law students to career opportunities in native title, policy, social justice and Indigenous affairs and aims to provide assistance to under-resourced and over-worked Native Title Representative Bodies (NTRBs) and Native Title Service Providers (NTSPs) as well as to various other organisations working in these areas including Indigenous corporations, government bodies, community groups, not-for-profit, policy organisations and others.

There are two intakes for interns annually, during the summer and winter university breaks, for 5 to 6 weeks. Applications open in March and August of each year.

Applications are open to law students who have completed, or are currently completing, the Property Law component of their legal studies. Internships are offered Australia-wide and we seek applicants who have a keen interest in some or all of the above mentioned areas.

Applications for the summer 2010/11 round of internships will be accepted online via our website (http://www.auroraproject.com.au) between Monday 9th August and Friday 3rd September 2010.

Anthropology / Social Science Internships:

The Program introduces students of anthropology and some other social sciences (archaeology, cultural heritage, environmental management, history, human geography and sociology) to career opportunities in native title, policy, social justice and Indigenous affairs. The Program aims to provide assistance to the anthropology and research staff of under-resourced and over-worked Native Title Representative Bodies (NTRBs) and Native Title Service Providers (NTSPs) as well as to various other organisations working in these areas including Indigenous corporations, government bodies, community groups, not-for-profit, policy organisations and others.

There are two intakes for interns annually, during the summer and winter university breaks, for 5 to 6 weeks. Applications open in March and August of each year.

NTRBs employ lawyers, anthropologists and other researchers, field officers and administrative staff to represent and support Indigenous communities in native title claims, advocacy and other negotiations. Other host organisations advocate policies of reconciliation and equal rights for Indigenous Australians while some provide assistance to Indigenous communities with cultural heritage activities, as well as associated business and community-based initiatives.

A note about sizes: The jumpers are unisex so the sizes are a little larger than you would expect. We strongly recommend that you come and try one on before you order! We have all sizes available to try before you buy. If you absolutely cannot come in to uni to try one on a rough guide is that they are a half to a whole size larger than normal sizes, so if you are a medium you may want a small etc.
