Careers

The Careers, Education and Wellbeing (CEW) portfolio organises several important, informative seminars and events to help students navigate their career paths. The CEW portfolio also publishes a careers guide.

Some of the initiatives we carry out each year are:

  • Trivarsity Law Fair- a joint initiative of Flinders Law Students’ Association, University of South Australia Law Students’ Association, and Adelaide University Law Student Society to provide an opportunity for law students and graduates to meet various employers.

  • LK Diversity in Law Evening- a celebration of the achievements of diversity in the legal profession. We invite distinguished guests from law firms to journey through their career, explore the challenges they’ve faced and reflect on the successes they have had.

  • Clerkship Evening- a panel session made up of guests from three top law firms; typically a recent graduate, a senior associate and a HR representative. It is an excellent opportunity for students to learn about clerkships, the application process, and further career advice.

The Road Ahead: Career Insights from Flinders Law Alumni

FLSA is an organisation that endeavours to be innovative, fresh and relevant to our audience. In 2019 we introduced a new publication. This is based on the model of our discontinued Careers Guide, which won the Australian Law Students’ Association’s (ALSA) Award for the Best Careers Publication in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016. This is a testament to the outstanding quality of FLSA’s continuing commitment to producing a professional and useful resource.

This guide is a personalised publication for Flinders Law Students celebrating and detailing the achievements of both past and current students. It includes articles about their studies and graduate success in both SA, nationally, and internationally. Current students will be able to use the guide to tailor their career paths to their desired outcomes.
